While living in Germany I completed the Hauschka Art-therapy
training and then worked for many years teaching children with special
educational needs. I experienced the therapeutic and educational value
of creative activities.
I currently work for the Hereford College of
Technology where I teach adult students with learning difficulties, wherever
possible I work creatively with the students. Over the years I have adapted
and simplified the artistic process and techniques to enable students
to participate as fully as possible. For example 'The Horse' is a chicken-wire
frame covered in papier-mâché and then 'painted' with a
mixture of sand and PVA. A simple but effective way to create a sculpture.
