Marianne graduated from the University of East Anglia with a degree in Art History, and joined the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, before working as a freelance exhibition organiser and editor. Between 1993 and 1996 she studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths College, London, and in 1996 won the Tooth Travel Scholarship. She moved to Herefordshire 9 years ago.
