Helena Orlowski

Helena Orlowski is an artist, printmaker and educator. Through the 70s she trained as an artist at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, Canada and went on to do further studies at the Warsaw Akademy of Fine Arts in Poland. She is also a teacher of Art and Special Educational Needs at Wynstones School in Gloucester. She has been a parent at the Hereford Waldorf School since 1988.

Printmaking has always been her main medium of expression. The intaglio print and the mono-print are her favoured means and both fullfil very different purposes.

The exacting nature of the intaglio demands a staged approach and unravels slowly. The mono-print has a painterly quality and demands a spontaneity in its execution. What both methods share is their element of surprise when the first print is pulled.

Helena works from her studio at home.
